Blizzard’s Efforts to Fix Heroes of the Storm Matchmaking
In a recent Reddit post, the two-time top player in the NA region, Srey, has called out HOTS’ matchmaking as the single biggest thing holding the game back, and I completely agree. Heroes of the Storm has been going from strength to strength. It’s releasing some very cool skins , meaningful gameplay and UI updates with comprehensive notes from the developers, and it hasn’t stopped releasing heroes with bonkers control schemes that defy MOBA convention.
That’s a big reason we all love the game.
However, the team-focused nature of Heroes presents challenges when using this system to determine an individual player’s matchmaking rating, since any single player is only 1 part of the 5-man team that won or lost the match.
Players are obsessed with team fighting even when they don’t need to It’s fairly snowbally, but can turn on a dime with one well timed team fight. By the looks of things, Blizzard want to not only reduce the snowball feeling from when an enemy team is romping through structures, but also adjust armor values so that there’s less mitigation when stacked effectively.
It’s too early to say how these things will play out, and from an XP standpoint, but it has the potential to make Heroes of the Storm even simpler I’m not sure that’s a good thing. It also has the potential to further reduce the value of Specialists, as the focus will be on winning team-fights rather than effectively macroing a lane. Read on for more information. Experience a New Experience… Experience: Previously, we granted a great deal of experience to players for destroying structures.
Catapulting Heroes into This allows consistent but not constant pressure in a lane that enemies will have a hard time ignoring. As a note, killing a Keep will result in Catapults with every wave, which is identical to the current live functionality. Gone are the days of bringing multiple Heroes that grant Armor and stacking them to absurd levels. Our live design team has been watching those strategies rise in competitive play and is taking the opportunity now to make proactive changes for the health of the game at all levels of play.
Now, just like Movement Speed modifiers, the game will apply only the highest or lowest amount of Armor to a Hero at any given time.

Personality She seemed very stubborn, and determined to get the man she loves. Appearance Fuku when she was thin. She has long blond hair and big blue eyes. She was originally thin, bearing a striking resemblance to Ino Yamanaka. The main difference is her bangs are shorter and frame both sides of her face unlike Ino whose bangs only frame the left side.
When she got engaged with Chikara she gained a lot of weight. She wears a set of blue oval earrings and her outfit consists of a pink kimono with red dots. After her stress-eating caused her to gain a lot of weight, she hired Ino purely for their resemblance to make Chikara fall in love with “her”. Fuku is very determined to see her plan work out, despite all of its flaws, and therefore is very hard on Ino and Naruto. In the end her plan failed, as she was accidentally revealed to Chikara, but he was actually more fond of her current appearance, which then confirmed the engagement.
Easy Peasy Slim SP is a weight loss supplement she tried though it didn’t work. She also tried one called Substitution Slender.

Gameplay A game of DotA in progress Defense of the Ancients pits two teams of players against each other: Players on the Sentinel team are based at the southwest corner of the map, and those on the Scourge team are based at the northeast corner. Each base is defended by towers and waves of units which guard the main paths leading to their base.
In the center of each base is the “Ancient”, a building that must be destroyed to win the game. In DotA, players on each side choose one of heroes, each with different abilities and tactical advantages over other heroes. The scenario is highly team-oriented; it is difficult for one player to carry the team to victory alone.
DotA allows up to ten players in a five-versus-five format. Killing computer-controlled or neutral units earns the player experience points ; the player gains a level when enough experience is accumulated. Leveling up improves the hero’s toughness and the damage they inflict, and allows players to upgrade spells or skills. In addition to accumulating experience, players also manage a single resource of gold. Buying items that suit one’s hero is an important tactical element of the mod.
The game modes dictate the difficulty of the scenario, as well as whether players can choose their hero or are assigned one randomly. Many game modes can be combined, allowing more flexible options. As with Warcraft II , Blizzard included a free ” world editor ” in the game that allows players to create custom scenarios or “maps” for the game, which can be played online with other players through Battle.

This was done as part of an ongoing effort to improve what has long been abysmal matchmaking in an otherwise extremely well-received game. Today, they announced some of the areas of focus for the future, based partially on those player reports. Here is a quick and dirty rundown of what Blizzard will be tackling: Parties vs solo players: For players that are extremely concerned with team composition, Blizzard recommends queuing up for Hero League instead of Quick Match.
These are still occurring when players spend a long time waiting in queue. They are making “vast improvements” in this area, though the possibility won’t be completely eliminated. Just because someone on your team is playing terribly, doesn’t mean it’s a problem with matchmaking. Sometimes players just have a bad game, or a bad day. It’s happened to you too, don’t pretend like it hasn’t that last part was added by this writer who wants you to stop flaming people for playing poorly.
Specifically, right after a new Hero is released. At that time, a lot of people queue up to try to play that Hero, which results in longer queue times. This in turn causes the matchmaker to be willing to place players in lower quality games.
